Why I Chose This Fish
It was snorkeling in Hanauma Bay that first made me take notice of this amazingly colorful fish. They move quickly and can be surprisingly aggressive at times. I loved the incredible coloring and majestic body, and their pointed head is so distinctive that you can't mistake what kind of fish it is. A true classic!

Habitat: Shallow coral reefs, reef flats, and protected lagoons; generally from the surface to about 50 meters

Range: Tropical Indo-Pacific, from East Africa across to Hawaii and the central Pacific, and north to southern Japan

Typical size: Commonly around 6 inches; can reach about 12 inches

Diet: Algae, mollusks, crustaceans, worms, sea urchins, small fish, and other reef organisms
